AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri believes his team is finding their 'best form' after a 2-0 win over BATE Borisov on Wednesday.
The Serie A champions kept the pressure on Barcelona in Group H of the Champions League thanks to goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Kevin-Prince Boateng at the San Siro.
After a slow start to their league campaign that sees them sitting 13th, Allegri said his side were beginning to find top form.
"This match proved that the players are finally finding their best form and I'm sure it'll be even better when I have all my players available," Allegri said.
"In the first half we were too impatient, we wanted to score as soon as possible and this is why we made some mistakes."
"The team played well in the end, and we created a lot of chances. We also allowed them a few chances but that can happen, especially when you think things will be easy."
A late goal from Thiago Silva gave AC Milan a 2-2 draw at Barcelona on the opening match day, and they are now behind the La Liga giants on goal difference.
Allegri has set the target of being level on points with the European champions when the teams meet again on November 23.
"We'd like to go into the home game against Barcelona level on points with them, so that we can fight for first place," he said.
"We didn't have a perfect start to the season, but we didn't do too badly either."
Coming off a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona, BATE Borisov put in a better performance in Italy.
Midfielder Renan Bardini Bressan had a chance to give the visitors an unlikely lead after a misplaced Mark van Bommel pass put him one-on-one with Christian Abbiati, but the Brazilian had his tame effort saved.
Coach Viktor Goncharenko said his team had bounced back, but rued not being more attacking against AC Milan.
"We needed to recuperate from the painful defeat by Barcelona and we managed to do it. We had a chance to change the game but we missed out," he said.
"Milan have quality players which means that even if we don't let them get into our box they score from outside the area. We could have played more aggressively in attack."
